2009 Lillian Smith Rockwall "Race To End Abuse" 5K/Walk

Over 100 runners and walkers participated in the first annual 2009 Rockwall

Race To End Abuse 5K Race/Walk, Oct. 31, 2009, 8:30 -10 am, at the Kroger Food Store in Rockwall, 30 miles east of downtown Dallas on I-30 on the eastern shore of beautiful Lake Ray Hubbard.

Rockwall Running Center provided tags to all runners and handled the timing of the USATF-sanctioned 5K Race, which began just south of Kroger on Arista Dr, down Summer Lee Dr. and behind Presbyterian Hospital, through Fox Chase Park and up Tubbs Rd. to Buffalo Creek Golf Course. Then runners turned around and ran back.

Overall male, female and master division runners received trophies. The top three runners in each age group received medals. Door prizes were distributed to virtually all participants.

Free bottled water was provided by Aquafina/Pepsi. Free sports drinks, fruit and snacks were provided by Walmart.

After the event, Palio's Italian Cafe provided free pizza to hungry participants.

The title sponsor was Heritage Christian Academy. Presenting sponsor was Walmart .

The host sponsor was the Kroger Food Store.
